Teaching Current Events Without Bias
Current events (such as the presidential election) are often used to spark interest in Social Studies lessons. Recently in my district, there was an email from the Superintendent reminding teachers that it was inappropriate to "campaign" on campus. Kids are often smarter than they get credit for, and can see through veiled opinions a teacher may have. As principals, what guidelines would you suggest to your teachers?
